‘Twas the week before finals and all through the school
not a person was smiling; the workloads were cruel.
The papers were assigned one after another,
and stress made everyone mean motherfuckers.

The students were frazzled, all pulling their hair
with hopes that vacation soon would be there.
Half out getting coffee, the rest in the stacks
Leaning over books and laptops, breaking their backs.
